Kara Ann Thompson Vance, of Williamson, West Virginia, passed away on Sunday December 2, 2012 at her home. She was 32 years old.
Born on December 21st 1979, at Three Rivers Medical Center in Louisa, Kentucky, she is a daughter of Gary and Miki Little Thompson. Kara graduated from Tug Valley High School in 1998 and attended Marshall University. She went on to live in North Myrtle Beach, South Carolina to run Lil Pie Shop, a family owned pie shop before returning home to Williamson in 2005. She was Vice-President of Miki Little Gas Company from 2006 until its sale in 2008.
Kara married Sam Vance in 2007; their beautiful daughter Darby Jane Vance was born on May 17, 2008. The family moved to Eleanor, WV and Kara began a thriving photography career. In 2009, they returned again to Williamson where she opened her portrait studio, Kara Vance Photography. She is a member of Professional Photographers of America. Kara impacted many families lives with her photographic art. Kara leaves a legacy hanging on the walls of many homes throughout her adoring community.
Kara loved the beauty in life and celebrated it in music, photography and through close relationships with her friends and family. Her beaming smile and bellowing laughter will be missed by everyone she ever met.
Kara is survived by her loving daughter Darby, her mother and father Miki and Gary Thompson, her sister Lauren Thompson and grandmother Mary Thompson. She is predeceased by her maternal grandparents, Mike and Billie Little, and her paternal grandfather Roby Thompson. Many more mourn her passing - cousins, aunts and uncles, and countless close friends.
A celebration of her life will be held Thursday at noon at the First Presbyterian Church located at 29 West 6th Avenue, Williamson, WV.
The family wishes that expressions of sympathy be made in the form of donations to the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson.
