WEST WILLIAMSON, W.Va. — James Henry Trippett, 81, and a well-known resident of West Williamson, passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015, at Parkview Nursing and Rehabilitation Facility in Pikeville, Ky.
Born September 16, 1934, in Williamson, he was a son of the late James Hollis and Osa Estep Trippett. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife and the mother of his children, Lucille Pope Trippett; two daughters, Cathy Tincher and Cynthia Hackney; a granddaughter, Jill Hackney; a sister, Louise Smith and her husband, Bobby Smith, and a brother-in-law, Frank Davis.
Henry was a veteran and honorably served his nation in the United States Marine Corps. He was a member of and former operator of the Williamson American Legion. He was widely known in the area as a formidable poker player and he was an avid and excellent gardener.
He was the retired owner and operator of Trippett Distribution Company.
Henry was deeply loved by his family and friends. He will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed always.
Survivors include his wife, Sheila Davis Trippett; a sister, Margaret Davis of Pineville; a son, Bill Trippett of Madison, Wis.; two daughters, Kimberly (Rick) Ailiff of Auburn, Ga., and Karen (Ken) Cox of Duluth, Ga.; two step-sons, Rickey (Nichole) McCoy of Akron, Ohio, and Matthew (Kristin) McCoy of Rossville, Ga.; four grandchildren, Donita Canterbury, Seth Ailiff, Kenneth Cox and Jerry Joseph Hackney; two great-grandchildren, Dalton and Casey Canterbury, and three step-grandchildren, Parker, Riley and Mickey McCoy. He is also survived by a very special niece, Tami Smith (Gary) Mosley of Williamson.
Visitation is from 6-9 p.m. Sunday evening, December 6, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at noon Monday, December 7, at the mortuary. Reverend Ersel Ray Taylor will officiate.
Interment is in Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers and military rites will be presented by the Disabled American Veterans, Chapter 141, Belfry, Ky.
