Josephine Sprouse Pappas, 71, a member of Sts. Constantine and Helen Greek Orthodox Church in Washington and its Philoptohos women's society, died Dec. 18 at Montgomery General Hospital in Olney after a stroke.
Mrs. Pappas, a Silver Spring resident, was born in Williamson, W.Va., and moved to the Washington area in the mid-1940s.
Her marriage to Gus Pappas Sr. ended in divorce.
Survivors include two daughters, Lynn M. Kanaskie of Bedford, Pa., and Robin D. Cois of Clarksville; three grandchildren; and a great-grandson.
A son, Gus Pappas Jr., died in 1967.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Gus & Josephine Pappas. Interment followed funeral services conducted Monday, March 20, 2006.
