Irene Collins Elliott, 86, of Chattaroy, passed away at her residence on Friday, June 3, 2011. Born September 19, 1924, at Chattaroy, she was the daughter of the late Allen Collins and Sarah Thompson Collins. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by a sister, Ethel Farmer and two brothers, Orville Collins and Howard Collins. Irene was a homemaker and a member of the Grace Baptist Temple of West Williamson. Irene is survived by her husband of 64 years, Rev. Samuel J. Elliott of Chattaroy; one son: Greg (Phyllis) Elliott; one daughter: Sheila (Mike) Ball; six grandchildren: Kerri Justice, Karla (Rodney) Mattney, Gregory Elliott, Chris (Dawn) Ball, Steve (Krista) Ball and Rebecka (Steven) Riley; eight great grandchildren; two brothers: Albert (Alice) Collins and Lawrence (Gertrude) Collins and a host of nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Sunday evening, June 5, 2011, from 6 pm to 9 pm, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, June 6, 2011, at 11:00 am, at the mortuary. The Reverend Ron Sanger will officiate. Gary Farmer will deliver the opening prayer and the eulogy will be given by Dale Collins. Interment will follow the service at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Grandsons and a friend will serve as pallbearers.
