DETROIT, MI -- The worst fears of a missing Detroit woman's family and friends were realized.
Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office spokesman Lloyd Jackson confirmed the parents of 24-year-old Kajavia Globe, who was last seen about noon Friday, identified their daughter's body at the Wayne County morgue Tuesday.
She was found behind the rear of a home at 18551 Fielding in Detroit and the Medical Examiner was notified about 7 p.m., Jackson said.
Jackson said the cause and manner of death are undetermined pending an autopsy. MLive could not immediately reach members of the Detroit Police Media Relations Department for comment on the case Tuesday afternoon, but Detroit Assistant Police Chief Steve Dolunt told WJBK-TV, Channel 2 News there were no visible signs of trauma on Globe's body.
Police said Globe's Chevy Impala was located abandoned near Chatam and Fenkel in Detroit about 6:30 a.m. Monday.
Investigators feared Globe was in danger after they learned the suspected abductors had used Globe's bank cards to withdraw funds.
Bank video showed a person wearing a skeleton mask to cover their face using Globe's card.
Anyone with information about the cases is asked to call the Eight Precinct Detective Unit, 313-596-5840.
Information will be updated when it is obtained from the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Department or Detroit police.
Perfect strangers came together Saturday evening to honor 24 year old Kajavia Globe and to fight for justice in the City of Detroit.
"We are tired of the violence on our streets,” said march organizer KiKi Kerr. “So we decided to come together and fight for justice, for peace and protection for our community. We are fed up and we are fired up."
Demonstrators started rallying on the sidewalk at the corner of Seven Mile and Evergreen on Detroit's West Side, and marched a few blocks to where police found Globe’s body.
Her mother who was at the march did not hold back when her expressing her anger.
"I'm frustrated,” Shlonda Globe says. “I feel like it should be an eye for an eye, and a lot of things would change in this world."
Kajavia Globe went missing earlier this month. She was last seen near Seven Mile and Telegraph. Her body was found days later. The only lead investigators have released is a photo of someone wearing a skeleton mask, using Globe's debit card to withdraw $500 from an ATM. The circumstances surrounding her death remain a mystery at this point.
March organizer Dana Harris also lost two brothers to violence on the city’s streets. “Oh god, I'm at a loss of words,” Harris said. “I'm at a loss of words and I'm just tired of the senseless killing. I'm tired of it, and I decided to step up."
Speaking at the vigil, Globe’s mother said, "This is who Kajavia was, she didn't deserve it. My daughter did not. I will say it again. She did not deserve what happened to her. She was a good girl. It speaks for itself."
Detroit Councilwoman Mary Sheffield was also out in the freezing temperatures to rally for justice for the former Wayne State student. "That's what touched me so much,” Sheffield said. “I went to Wayne State too, mentored young women her age and I know the potential of these young women.” Sheffield continued saying, “They're future leaders. They're future politicians, they're doctors, they're lawyers, and she will never be able to bring that potential."
While the investigation continues as to what exactly caused Globe's death, her grieving mother is grateful for all of the support. "Thank you so much Detroit. We have come together. I do know a lot of people. This speaks for itself."
