It is with heavy hearts that the family of Alyssa Davis (Sunshine) announce her tragic and untimely passing on 23 Dec 2015, at the age of 17 years. Leaving to mourn her mother Sherree-Lin (nee Kavanagh), her father Brian, her brother Tyler (Kayla), her sister Jhessi, her 2 little men Anton and Caden, her grandparents Thomas and Shirley Kavanagh, Joseph and Lil Davis, her Uncle Gary and Aunt Maddie Kavanagh, her Uncle Cory and Aunt Zoe Kavanagh, her nephew TJ, and her cousins Meghann and Tristan. Alyssa also leaves to mourn many friends and extended family. The family will be receiving family and friends in the James J. A special memorial was held Friday night at a swimming meet in Corner Brook to honour the memory of a young swimmer killed in a car crash in December.

Alyssa Davis, 17, died in a crash near Kelligrews on Peacekeepers Way on Dec. 23.
On Friday, a white rose was placed in the middle lane of the Arts and Culture Centre Pool during a ceremony that was held prior to the start of this weekend's meet.
Tracy Mackey-Nelson, swim manager with the Corner Brook Rapids Swim Club, said many of the swimmers knew Davis, and the memorial was an emotional event.
"Even the younger kids knew who she was, they knew of her, and she was always happy on the deck and everything, so it did affect the swimmers," Mackey-Nelson said.
"They were sad during the memorial, but it was nice to do this for her."
Moment of silence held for Davis
Ed Mercer, president of the club said the loss of another swimmer was difficult for the children, but it's something parents try to help their kids get through.
"She was a very vibrant personality, a very happy girl," said Mercer.
"My own children are swimmers and they speak very highly of her and were very shocked and saddened at her passing."
A moment of silence was also held for Davis at the swim meet, and Mercer said it was a powerful moment.
"I think all the kids knew, and it was very quiet. I was very impressed by the way the children responded because they were just quiet. It was quiet throughout the building," he said.
Both Mercer and Mackey-Nelson said Davis' death was a loss for the swimming family in the province.
Mackey-Nelson also said the memorial was a reminder to live life to the fullest.
"They do want to go out and swim the best they can swim, because you never know," said Mackey-Nelson.
"It does affect the swimmers, but hopefully it will help them, having this memorial."

The funeral for a Kelligrews teenager killed in a single-vehicle crash on Dec. 23 will be held on Wednesday.
Alyssa Davis, 17, died in a crash on Peacekeepers Way near Kelligrews.
Davis was the passenger in a vehicle that left the eastbound land of the Conception Bay South bypass road and landed on its roof.
She was a member of the Conception Bay South Bluefins swim group and was a student at Queen Elizabeth High School in Foxtrap.
The funeral service for Davis will be held Dec. 30 at the St. Thomas Villanova Church in Manuels at 10 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the Davis family has asked for donations to be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association in her name.
The driver of the vehicle, also a 17-year-old girl, was taken to hospital in what police said at the time was critical condition.
Two passengers in the back seat were taken to hospital with minor injuries.
The Royal Newfoundland Constabulary is continuing its investigation into the cause of the crash.
