Hazel Burgett, 88, of Chattaroy, passed away on March 26, 2015, in the comfort of her home and in the presence of loved ones. Born September 19, 1926, at Radnor, WV, she was a daughter of the late Floyd Thompson and Grace Pratt Thompson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Homer Burgett; three brothers, Jay, Boyd and Earl Thompson and three sisters, Blanche Napier, Ruby Belcher and Shirley Staten. Hazel was a homemaker and a beloved mother and grandmother. All the care and loved she showered on her children was returned to her as her children lovingly cared for her through several years of declining health. In earlier years Hazel enjoyed quilting and she was an outstanding cook. Hazel was a member of the Fifth Avenue Church of Christ. She will be lovingly remembered and sorely missed always. Hazel is survived by her children, Linda (Jack) Blackburn, South Williamson, KY, Evelyn (Robert) Ray, Louisa, KY, Alice (Carl) Reynolds, Louise, KY, Tammy Swafford, Chattaroy and Brian (Derica) Burgett also of Chattaroy; nine grandchildren, a sister, Louise Harmon, Croton, OH; several nieces and nephews and a special niece, Peggy Belcher Barnett of Chattaroy. Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Saturday, March 28, 2015, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Sunday, March 29, 2015, at the mortuary with Ronnie Ferrell officiating. Interment is in the Burgett Family Cemetery at Chattaroy.
