LILLIAN GRAHAM WASHINGTON
WILLIAMSON, MINGO COUNTY, WEST VIRGINIA
Lillian Graham Washington, 91, of Williamson, W.Va., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 21, 2016 at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Lillian was the youngest daughter of six children. She was born August 23, 1924, at Chattaroy, W.Va. to the late Reverend David Graham and Estella Rose Graham.
Lillian accepted Christ as her Savior at a very young age. She and her sisters formed a group, The Graham Sisters Harmony Four, and were invited to sing at area churches. She graduated from Liberty High School. Later, she met her loving husband, the late Wilmore Washington, and together had six children.
Lillian was a faithful and dedicated member of Second Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church and loved her church dearly. Lillian had been the oldest in membership at Second Mount Zion until her death. She held active membership in Tug River District Missionary Baptist Association, The Tug River District Women's Missionary and Educational Convention and the Tug River District Congress of Christian Education.
Lillian was a devoted mother and grandmother. One of her greatest joys was spending time with her grandchildren. Her love for her grandchildren was never ending. She enjoyed laughter and had an infectious smile. She leaves cherished memories with her children, Wilmore Washington Jr., Calvin (Vanessa) Washington, Jerome Washington, Diane (Mitchell) Turner, Gina (Virdell) Banks and Manuel Washington; her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives and friends.
In addition to her parents, Rev. David Graham and Estella Rose Graham, Lillian was preceded in death by her loving husband, Wilmore Washington Sr.; her sisters: Alberta Miller, Ella May Harris, Aillean Gravely, and Hazel Greene; and her brother, David Graham Jr.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Thursday, May 26th, at First Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church. Burial will follow in Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, W.Va.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, May 25th, at the church.
