Allen Baylor Urps, III, 31, of Durham, North Carolina, formerly of Williamson, West Virginia, passed away at his residence on July 30, 2015.
Allen was born on March 15, 1984, in Logan, West Virginia, the beloved and only son of the Judy Wykle Urps of Williamson and the late Allen Baylor Sonny Urps, Jr.
The Urps family has long been identified with the operation of Urps Metal Company with locations in Davy, West Virginia and Williamson, West Virginia. Allens mother, Judy, continues the operation of the business today.
In addition to his father, Allen was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Allen Baylor Urps, Sr. and Margaret Cline Urps; maternal grandparents, Porter Wykle and Hailey Bailey Wykle; a maternal aunt, Brenda Wykle and his paternal aunt and uncle, Jan Urps Dalton and her husband, Ronnie Dalton.
Allen grew up on Parkway Drive in West Williamson where he was loved and adored by his parents and his older sisters, Alishia and Alison. Allen was interested in books at an early age and began to read long before he entered school. He grew up playing tee~ball and baseball in the Williamson Little League. He attended West Williamson Grade School, Williamson Middle School and graduated with the Williamson High School Class of 2002. He went on to attend Fairmont State University and Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College and he attended the Memorial United Methodist Church. Allen had a lifelong interest in Mustang automobiles. He spent countless hours happily cleaning and polishing his cars.
Allen enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 2009, honorably and proudly serving his nation for the next six years. His service included duty in Afghanistan.
Allen was currently employed as a Site Manager with LW Onsite.
Allen was bright and funny and he had the ability to make others laugh and smile with his easy personality. His memory will be cherished forever as his family and friends reflect on the joy and happiness he brought into their lives.
In addition to his mother, Allen is survived by his sisters, Alishia Urps-Dempsey and her husband, Russ Dempsey of Dublin, Ohio and Alison Urps-Bowling and her husband, Todd Bowling of Raleigh, North Carlina; six nieces and nephews, Ryder, Teague, Titus, Bea and Porter Dempsey and Olivia Bowling; several aunts, uncles, cousins; his companion, Connie Lee of Durham, North Carolina; his beloved canine companion, Penny, and a special friend whom he grew up with and thought of as a brother, Justin Caraway, of Williamson, West Virginia.
Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Sunday evening, August 2, 2015, at Weaver Mortuary, 1718 West Third Avenue, West Williamson (25661). Reverend Brad Davis will conduct a Service of Remembrance at 7:00 pm.
Entombment is in the Woodlawn Memorial Park at Bluewell, WV, where family and friends are invited to gather at 2:00 pm, on Monday, August 3, 2015, for the committal service.
