Jane Wagner Wilson
Williamson, West Virginia
Jane Wagner Wilson, a most gracious lady, age 89, of Pikeville, Kentucky, formerly of Williamson, West Virginia, passed away on Wednesday, August 8, 2012, at the Pikeville Medical Center, Pikeville, Kentucky.
Born June 3, 1923, in Ambridge, Beaver County, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late August John Wagner and Amelia Marie Henrietta Gable Wagner.
In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Dr. James H. Wilson, who practiced optometry in Williamson for more than three decades; a beloved son, David Wesley Wilson, and four brothers, Daniel, George, Norman (Red) and Wes Wagner.
Jane graduated from Triadelphia High School, Wheeling, West Virginia, in 1941. She went on to attend Wittenberg University, graduating in 1945 with a B.S. in Elementary Education. She was a member of Alpha Xi Delta Sorority and she was Homecoming Queen in 1945.
She was a longtime member of the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson where she was very active in the life of the church and a member of the cappella choir.
Jane will be most notably remembered as a gifted soloist. The church Christmas Eve service is especially memorable for Janeâs sons as they recall their mother singing, O Holy Night, at the service for many years.
Jane was born into a musical family and her passion for music was inherited by her children, Jeff, Steve and Jim, all of whom possess their own musical gifts and talents.
Jane was a devoted wife to her husband, Jim, and the two enjoyed a very rich and full life together. They were both very involved in church, civic and social circles during the years they resided in Williamson. They also enjoyed many years and had many friends in Daytona Beach, Florida, where they were members of the First Presbyterian Church of Daytona Beach and enjoyed many good times in Pelican Bay. Hosting friends and family at the World's Most Famous Beach were always memorable occasions
Jane was also a loving and supportive mother. She was especially active with the Williamson High School Band Parents Association for many years.
Jane will be lovingly remembered and sadly missed by her family and dear friends always.
Jane is survived by three sons, Jeffrey Alan Wilson and his wife, Pam Wilson of Richmond, VA, Dr. Steven Curtis Wilson, and his wife, Deb Wilson of Williamson and James August Wilson and his wife, Donna Wilson of Nashville, TN; and eight grandchildren, John Wilson, Elizabeth Wilson, Matt Wilson, Anna Wilson, Mary Wilson, Scott Wilson, Wesley Wilson and Spencer Wilson.
Friends are welcomed to gather with the Wilson family as they celebrate Janes life at a graveside service to be conducted at 11:00 am, on Saturday morning, August 18, 2012, at the Mountain View Memory Gardens, at Maher, West Virginia. Reverend Jarod Belcher will officiate.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions be made to the First Presbyterian Church of Williamson.
