Shirley Ann Curry
Former Vice President of Loans with Bank of Mingo
Shirley Ann Curry, 70, was suddenly called home to be with the Lord on October 31, 2016, while a patient at the Tug Valley Appalachian Regional Medical Center in South Williamson, KY.
Born May 18, 1946, in Pike County, KY, she was a daughter of the late Robert C. Brown and Eula Mae Webb Brown.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by a sister, Peggy Ellen Parsley, on October 11, 2016; five brothers~in~law, Thurman Perry, Bill, Tommy, Bill Parsley, Roy and Clyde Curry and two sisters-in-law, Lorraine Brown and Goldie Perry
Shirley retired as a Vice President of Loans with the Bank of Mingo after 38 years of dedicated service. She had attended West Virginia University where she received banking credentials as well as at Marshall University.
She genuinely enjoyed her banking career where she made and kept numerous friendships over the years. It is commonly said of Shirley that she never met a stranger as her friendly disposition, easy going personality and inborn people skills drew people to her. It was obvious to everyone that she earnestly cared for people and she seemed to always go the extra mile to help everyone she possibly could.
In her private and personal life Shirley displayed the same dynamics as those of her professional life. Shirley was a devout Christian. She began each new day with prayer, bible study and a devotional reading. She was a longtime, faithful and devoted member of the Borderland Baptist Church.
Shirley married Charles Curry on January 29, 1962. They were blessed with three sons, Keith, Craig and Michael. Shirleys boys now joke about how their mom kept them in line as they were growing up. The boys grew up to be fine young men and they each married in their own time and bought into the family three daughters for Shirley and Charles to love and cherish. Soon there were eight grandchildren, with each one being special and unique. Shirley adored and slightly spoiled them all.
Shirleys legacy is that of a life well lived. She was bold and strong in her Christian faith. She was loving, supportive and caring towards her family and gracious to everyone she met. She knew the love and devotion of her wonderful husband, Charles, for 54 joyful years. She leaves many wonderful memories of happy days and delightful times gone by. Those memories will sustain all who knew and loved her always.
Shirley is survived by her loving husband, Charles E. Curry; three sons and their wives, Keith and Sybrina Curry of Pikeville, KY, Craig and Krista Curry of Stone, KY and Michael and Amy Curry of Chattaroy; eight grandchildren, David Keith Curry, Alexandria Myers, Chelsea Caudill, Morgan Curry, Taylor Curry, Jordyn Curry, Ethan Curry and Jenna Curry; three brothers, Johnny (Naomi) Brown, Ward (Barbara) Brown and Orville Brown; her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Ray and Lucinda Curry, Paul and Mary Curry and Seigle Curry; a host of nieces, nephews, extended family members and wonderful friends.
Visitation is from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.
Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 pm, Thursday, November 3, at the mortuary. Reverend Rick Gannon will officiate.
