Obituary of Ray Harris
Ray A. Harris, 46, Marion, died Saturday, November 26, 2011. He was born in Hyden, Kentucky to B.P. Bob and Jane (Gross) Harris. He married Sherry Holloway on July 30, 1988. She survives.
Ray was a 1984 graduate of Eastbrook High School. He began his career as a salesman at Howard Chrysler-Plymouth in 1988. In 2006, he became owner of the dealership, now known as Ray Harris Chrysler Jeep. Ray was a true citizen of Marion. He was an avid supporter of the community and the Marion Giants. His family was the center of his world, and he rarely missed one of his children's events. One of his favorite events was the annual CSA Go-Kart race. He served 8 years as the President of the Marion Board of Works. He was a member of the Meshingomesia Country Club, the Aero Club, Marion Pilots Club, Elks and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He attended Gods House Ministries.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Harris, Marion; son, Blake Harris, Marion; parents B.P. "Bob" and Jane Harris, Marion; father and mother-in-law, Tom and Rita Holloway, Marion; brothers and sisters in-law, Tom (Julie) Holloway Jr., Marion, Jim (Heather) Holloway, LaFontaine; aunts, Alice Woods, Marion, Jewel (Bill) Mobley, LaFontaine; nieces and nephews, Nolan, Ryan, Torey, Grant, Coan Holloway.
Ray was preceded in death by his daughters, Ramie L. Harris and Shey M. Harris.
Funeral Service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in Marion High School Bill Green Athletic Arena, 750 West 26th Street , Marion, Indiana with Pastor Ryan McCarty officiating. Burial will be in Grant Memorial Park, Marion, Indiana.
Visitation will be from 2 to 8 p.m. Friday, December 2, 2011 in Marion High School, Marion.
