Stephen Michael Casey, age 34, passed away suddenly on Thursday, January 12, 2017. Born June 23, 1982, in South Williamson, Kentucky, he was the son of Mike Casey of Williamson, West Virginia and Wilma Hatfield of North Reddington Beach, Florida.
Stephen spent his life in service to the community as a firefighter and an emergency medical technician.
He began his career with the Williamson Fire Department as a volunteer in January 2001, working side-by-side with his father. He became a professional firefighter in June of 2008, and was promoted to Lieutenant in December of 2011.
Stephen was also a licensed pyrotechnician. He was known throughout the state and region for his firework shows, which brought joy in celebrating occasions both large and small.
He was preceded in death by is grandparents, Ferry and Ruby Casey and Hubert Jude.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Rebecca Casey and sons Stephen Michael Casey II and William Rutherford Casey, grandmother Jean Jude, sister, Melissa Casey and her children Breana, Brennan, and Brenaleigh, special aunts Patty (Bob) Casey, Wilma Brewster-Sizemore, Barbara Lawson, and Louise Maynard. Trina Casey Clay, Ron Lovins Jr., Nathan, Dwight, and Jonathan Hatfield are also left to mourn his passing as well as Andy Howrylak, Halsey and Brittany Carson, Sommer Pearce, Teresa prince, Matt and Julie Coe, Patrick Collins, Sean, Brandee and Jason Marcum and their parents Cindy and Dale Marcum, who were like second parents to Stephen in which he treasured many fond memories. Also surviving him are special brothers of the Williamson Fire Department - Joey Carey, Garrett G Gregory II, and many more.
In honoring Stephens wishes, cremation has taken place.
Arrangements have been entrusted to the Hatfield Funeral Chapel of Toler, KY.
