Mildred Louise (Isaac) Slater, age 96, passed away on August 2, 2018, at her home in Corryton, Knox County, Tennessee. She was born March 11, 1922 to Fred and Elsie Montgomery Isaac.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Clifford W. Slater, daughter Sandra G. Slater, brothers Herschel and Richard Lee Isaac, and sisters Nell Poland and Betty Lilly.
She is survived by brother William Raymond (Kathy) Isaac of Indianapolis, Indiana; daughter Stephanie L. Slater of Knoxville, Tennessee; son, Gregory C. (Barbara) Slater of Lexington, Kentucky; grandsons, Chris Slater and Stephen (Tanya) Slater of Lexington, Kentucky; and great-granddaughter Sydney L. Slater of Lexington, Kentucky.
Mildred was member of Mt. Hermon United Methodist Church in Powell, Tennessee. She was a past Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star Elizabeth Chapter No. 37 in WV and was a member of the Holston-Mascot Chapter No. 55 in Tennessee.
Visitation 11:00 a.m.,Monday, August 6, 2018, at First United Methodist Church, 101 West Second Avenue, Williamson, West Virginia, where Mildred was an active member prior to her move to the Knoxville area in 2002. A 1 p.m. funeral service officiated by Rev. Jerry Shields will immediately follow visitation.
Interment will occur at Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, West Virginia.
Pallbearers include Chris and Stephen Slater, Pat Harris, Chris Harris, and Jacob Sizemore.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to the Sandra G. Slater Endowed Scholarship at the Holston Conference of the United Methodist Church Foundation, P.O. Box 900, Alcoa, Tennessee 37701.
