Charles Edwin Curry

Charles Edwin Curry, 85, of Chattaroy, West Virginia, passed away suddenly at his residence on February 24, 2023.

Born May 3, 1937, at Webb, Wayne County, West Virginia, Charles was the son of the late Landon and Lora Cassady Curry.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his loving wife, Shirley Brown Curry, a beloved son, Keith Edwin Curry, one sister, Goldie Perry and her husband, Thurman Perry and brothers, Clyde Curry, Roy Curry, Thomas Curry, Bill, and his wife, Seigel Curry, and Paul Curry.

Retired from the West Virginia Department of Highways, Charles was a 1955 graduate of Chattaroy High School where he played basketball. His love of basketball continued throughout his life. He simply loved the game. He also held a strong passion for automobiles, especially the 1957 Chevy, and he enjoyed attending car shows. He was a major fan of western shows and movies as well.

Devoted to his faith and family more than anything else, Charles was a longtime and devoted member of the Borderland Baptist Church. He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren with a love that was only surpassed by his love of God. Charles’ greatest desires were to faithfully attend church services and to look after and care for his family for as long and as well as he could. Charles was a man who carried himself with dignity. He was kind, and honest, and he treated everyone he encountered with respect. Charles was a prized individual, cherished, and treasured by those who loved him, he will be sorely missed and lovingly remembered always.

Charles is survived by two sons, Craig, and his wife, Krista Curry and Michael, and his wife, Amy Curry, a daughter-in-law, Sybrina Curry, eight grandchildren, David Curry and his fiancée, Amanda Andreychuk, Alexandria Alex (Bryant) Myers, Chelsea (Ronald) Caudill, Morgan (Brandon) Boian, Taylor (Cameron) Planck, Jordyn Curry, Ethan (Emily) Curry and Jenna Curry, six great-grandchildren with a new great-grandchild to be born in March, 2023, a brother, Ray Curry and his wife, Lucinda Curry, a sister-in-law, Mary Curry and a host of loving nieces and nephews.

Visitation is from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM, Monday evening, February 27, 2023, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM, Tuesday afternoon, February 28, 2023, at the mortuary with Reverend Rick Gannon officiating.

Interment is in the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV.
