Ronald Byrd
1951-2015
Ronald Byrd was born on January 5, 1951, in Hazelwood, Ohio, to the union of the late William A. and Mildred B. Marshall-Byrd. He was their second child and first son. Four brothers, Billy, Albert, Richard, and Kenneth; One sister, JoAnne Cain, who preceded him in death.
He gave his life to Christ at an early age and was baptized at the First Baptist Church of Hazelwood by the late, Pastor Charles Pitts, Sr.
Lovingly, known as Sharpie, he loved God first, his family, and community; and as we all know, cars gave him an emotional rush that only he and God understood. Our brother loved the challenge of working on cars. He was like the Joe Louis of cars, and the great thing about him and his workmanship, one could trust him. His strong "grip" in his right handshake solidified the words that came out of his mouth as his guarantee. Ron, just like Kenny and Billy loved the Old Classic Cars.
Ronald was a very hard working man, every morning up and out of the house by 4 a.m. and on time to The Cincinnati Milacron / Cast Fab. He did this for over twenty-five years, working with no heat or air in the foundry. This year in February he retired due to health issues. Ronald was a lover of people all kinds of people. He had a special love and respect for Senior Citizens. He would help anyone who needed help. Ronald had a strong love for his nieces and his nephews, and he spent quality time with them. He was a wonderful Uncle!
Ronald loved to fish, cook and please don't mention Flea Market! He loved to travel; he enjoyed going down to Georgia to visit his nieces, he loved to stop over in Atlanta and see his cousin Judy. One of his favorite spots would be "Seneca Lake", he enjoyed going to the Good News Church retreat at Seneca Lake, along with his brothers and sisters.
These last couple of months as Ronald saw his health situation getting worse, he never really complained, he would always say, when He gets ready for me, and then I'm gone! His prayer to God was, Lord, please don't let me be in a lot of pain and please let me go in my sleep. Just like his Awesome God, God granted his request. Very little pain and allowed him to fall asleep, but woke up in the arms of Jesus!
He leaves to cherish and rejoice in his brand new home, five sisters: Delores (Arthur), Donna (Michigan), Cynthia, Ruth (Arnold), and Wilma; three brothers, Edward (Doris/Michigan); Gary (Toda), Jerome (Carolyn); three additional sisters-in-laws, Audrey (Albert), Jnessie (Bill), and Donna Richard); one aunt, Doris Thornton; several nieces and nephews; One special friend of forty-three years, whom was also his caregiver, Miss. Charlene "BZ" Westmoreland, along with his cousin, Wanda Willis, and an ongoing family support, especially his sister Cynthia and a tremendous host of relatives and friends.
Visitation is 12 noon until 2:00 p.m., on Saturday, September 12, 2015, at Good New Baptist Church, 3473 Niagra Street, Cincinnati, Ohio 45251. The service will immediately follow the visitation and will begin at 2:00 p.m.
