Life Legacy

Sally Jean Curry, 74, of Williamson, passed away on Wednesday, October 26,2011, at the Appalachian Regional Hospital in South Williamson, KY.

Born September 7, 1937, in Williamson, WV, she was the daughter of the late J. Brooks Lawson, Sr. and Lesta McGrail Lawson.

In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by a brother, J. Brooks Lawson, Jr.

Sally was a lifelong resident of Williamson. She graduated from Williamson High School in 1955 and went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Radford College. She taught school for a number of years prior to joining her husband, Dr. Tom Curry, Optometrist, as an optometric assistant in his practice.

She was a member of the Memorial United Methodist Church of West Williamson.

Sally is survived by her husband of 56 years, Dr. G. Thomas Curry, Optometrist; two daughters, Jenny (Kim) Winters of Barboursville, WV and Nancy Ann Curry of Parker Lake, KY; two granddaughters, Jessica (Brandon) White of Charleston, SC and Samantha (Teddy) Poore of Ravenna, KY; a great-grandson, Elijah Thomas White; a brother, Ed (Sheila) Lawson, MD of Charlottesville, VA; a sister, Mary Ann (Jock) Farmer of Morgantown, WV; a sister-in-law, Janet Lawson of Williamson and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may call from 6 pm to 9 pm, Friday evening, October 28, 2011, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1 pm, Saturday, October 29, 2011, at the mortuary. The Reverend Greg Blair will officiate.

Entombment will be at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV. Pallbearers include Brad Cather, Brad Davis, Gary Davis, Mark Hager, John Mark Hubbard, Paul Pinson and Doug Ward. Don Curry and Jim Melmige are honorary pallbearers.
