Erwin G. Allen
February 9, 1958 - January 4, 2016

Erwin G. Allen, 57, resided in Holland, Ohio, until he was called to be with the Lord on January 4, 2016. He fought courageously with his strength and faith in God, never once complaining, never once questioning. Erwin was a calm, considerate and genuine person with a dazzling smile. He appreciated every gesture of kindness toward him and every encouraging word. Erwin, known by many as Erky, was born Feb 9, 1958, in South Williamson, KY, the beloved son of Thomas Allen and the late Audrey Ford Allen. His hometown was Chattaroy, W.Va. In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by a sister Felicia G. Allen. Erwin graduated from Williamson High School in 1976. He attended Berea College in Berea, Ky., and he was inducted into the Williamson High School Athletic Hall of Fame in Sept. 2007, for his outstanding high school basketball skills. Erwin worked for Norfolk Southern Corp. for more than 32 years. He started his career with NS Corp. in Williamson, W.Va. His hard work and sincerity led him to become a Division Manager of Mechanical Operations of the Dearborn Division. He was a passionate advocate and made a positive difference in the lives of many people he worked with. Those left to cherish his memory, in addition to his father, Thomas Allen of Chattaroy, are his wife, Rhonda Allen, Holland; his children, Elexus Allen, Roanoke, Va., Janae Allen, Holland, and Maurice Beasley, Northwood, Ohio; one brother, Thomas "Tony" (Fern) Allen, Washington, DC; three sisters, Deborah Ward, Hudson, Ohio, Beverly Houston, Charleston, W.Va., and Alvena (Michael) Elliott Canton, Ohio; three grandchildren, D'Zharie Cheatwood and D'Zhire Cheatwood (Elexus) and Lyric Beasley (Maurice). Also surviving are a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends. Erwin will always be remembered and treasured. Visitation is from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Saturday, January 9, 2016, at Chattaroy Church of God. The funeral service will begin at 1 p.m. immediately following visitation. Elder Darlene Mitchell will officiate. Entombment is at the Mountain View Memory Gardens at Huddy, Ky. Family members and friends will serve as pallbearers.
