BILLIE EDWARD GIBSON, 88, of Williamson, W.Va., passed away on January 7, 2018, at Emogene Dolin Jones Hospice House in Huntington, W.Va. Born July 17, 1929, in Cedar, W.Va., he was a son of the late Aaron H. Gibson and Ida Smith Gibson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his first wife, Esther Looney Gibson; and siblings, Augusta Nunnery, Ethel Simpkins, Ernest, Bethel, Freeman, Joe, Irvin, Alice Faye Kiser and Elwood Gibson. Billie retired with 30 years of service as a brakeman and conductor on the N&W Railroad. He was a longtime member of the East Williamson Baptist Church, a 32nd Degree Mason and a Shriner. Billie was a nature lover. He was never happier than when he was hunting and spending time in The Great Outdoors. He also enjoyed gardening. Billie was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend. His memory will be cherished by all who knew and loved him. Billie is survived by his wife of 11 years, Juanita Chapman Gibson; his loving daughter, Brenda and her husband Tom McGahan of Barboursville, W.Va.; two granddaughters, Megan (Devin) Tubert and Meredith (Christopher) Nosher; five great-grandchildren, Caden and Cambria Bowen, Hayden and Ashton Nosher and Hunter Tubert; a brother, Millard (Betty) Gibson; two stepsons, Paul Pigman Jr. and family and William Curtis "Skip" Pigman. Also surviving are a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation is from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday, January 10, 2018, at Weaver Mortuary in West Williamson. Funeral services will be conducted at noon on Thursday, January 11, 2018, at the East Williamson Baptist Church. Reverend W.L. Bostic will officiate. Interment is in Daniels Cemetery, Beech Creek, W.Va. The family wishes to thank the 6th floor nursing staff of St. Marys Medical Center for their gracious, kind, compassionate and professional care during the time Billie was an inpatient; and the staff of The Village at Riverview for the wonderful and loving care they gave Billie over the past seven months.
