Rev. Ray Taylor, 92, of Martin County, KY was peacefully called home to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 28, 2023 while in the comforts of his home. Born February 26, 1931 in Martin County, KY, he was the son of the late Dennis and Lassie Dawson Taylor.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by his beloved wife of 67 years in 2017, Mildred Taylor, a daughter, Katherine Louise Robinson, a grandchild, Sheila Taylor, a great-grandchild, Phillip Evans, 4 brothers, Jimmy, Jr., Henry, and Paul Taylor, and a daughter in law, Betty Taylor.

Ray was a retired coal miner from Island Creek Coal Company and a member of the UMWA. He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, friend, and pastor, but most importantly, he was devoted to his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Ray was ordained to preach the gospel at the age of 17 and served as pastor of the Nolan Street Church for approximately 70 years.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children, Earsel Ray Taylor of Martin County, KY, Columbia (Paul) Stacy of Crum, WV, and John (Judy) Taylor of Martin County, KY, 2 brothers, Ben Taylor of Martin County, KY and Danny Taylor of Circleville, OH, 2 sisters, Ruth Ramey of Crum, WV and Doris Calhoun of Columbus, OH, 8 grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren, 6 great-great-grandchildren, and a numerous host of brothers and sisters in the Lord and friends.

Funeral services will be held Friday, March 3, 2023 at 1:00 pm at the Nolan Street Church in Nolan, WV with Bro. Earl White officiating. Burial will follow in the Mt. View Memory Gardens at Maher, WV with family serving as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends beginning at 6:00 - 9:00 pm Thursday evening at the Hatfield Funeral Chapel with services at 7:00 pm with Bro. Danny Scott officiating.
